McKinley Wright IV

Position: Point Guard

Role: Two-Way Playmaker

Age: 22

Nation: USA

Year: Senior

College: Colorado

Height: 6’0

Wingspan: 6’5

Weight: 192 lbs

McKinley Wright IV does a lot of things right from the guard position. He is a superb playmaker who can run the show for his team and create easy opportunities for his teammates. He is an excellent interior scorer for a player of his size and he has a lethal floater game. Wright is a fairly decent shot-creator in the mid-range who can stop on a dime and embraces contact on his shot. He is also a tenacious defender who has a clear role as a point of attack defender.

Wright has two main flaws, both of which are pretty big issues. For starters, he is tiny. At barely 6 feet tall in shoes, Wright will be one of the smallest point guards in the league. While he does have a positive wingspan, it isn’t nearly enough to offset his height. Additionally, Wright is a poor shooter from 3. He struggles to convert both off the dribble and off the catch. For a player of his size, this can be a death sentence. Wright does a lot to alleviate his height disadvantage but without improving his shooting by a ton, he will inevitably struggle. The utility of a small guard with an inconsistent shot is quite limited in the NBA.
