An open letter to the man who broke my heart, and a solidarity letter for any woman who has felt unheard, unloved, or told they are “too much.”

Seems like a strange thing to say, doesn’t it…

Considering you didn’t think I was capable of living without you.

Considering you made me feel like I would never have anything if I didn’t have you…

Don’t get me wrong, the adjustment to life without you wasn’t easy at first.

My heart ached for our late night adventures, the dancing in the kitchen while we cooked dinner, and those unforgettable love story moments that came, and that inevitably went…

But with each passing day, it got easier and easier to live life without you.

I stopped getting the urge to text you every time I picked up my phone.

I didn’t want to cry when I drove past our favorite restaurant anymore.

I started to get the fire, and passion in my life back, that you has skillfully snuffed out.

I started to feel connected again… connected to my body, myself, my intuition.

I couldn’t have ever known how much I needed my heart broken by you when we first fell in love…

And I was so in love.

Head over fucking heals.

I was in love with the way you stroked my ego, and made me feel so incredible confident (just to strip it all away with a single look when you thought it was too much.)

I was in love with the way you would hold me when you made me cry.

I was in love with the way that you triggered me into self healing, even when it was cruel…

I thought that you were teaching me things…

I mean, that is what you always said.
