I have used lots of game engines. I never settled on one though….Until I found Gamemaker! This is the long story of my journey finding 'that perfect game engine!’
Okay, before I say a list of my favorite game engine list, this is my journey finding the engines. I just dived right into unity, not knowing anything about the engine. Let’s just say, it wasn’t pleasant... I didn’t watch any youtube videos, read unity’s guide, or even use a template! BIG MISTAKE! That is why I don’t use unity today. I then went to the more complex engine: Unreal Engine 4. Yet another mistake. ( For a beginner, that is. ) However, I used UE4 templates this time. NOT A BIG MISTAKE!?!? Bye unreal. I hope you enjoy those 4 hours we spent together 😘! And that bring us to the third engine: Gamemaker studio 2. I love this game engine. It’s probably the best engine I’ll ever find in a million years. ( Literally! I tried using LibGDX, rpg maker mv, defold, app game kit, love2D, and I even started looking a third-party game engines.)
Here is the list of game engines I tried using in the past.
I hope you enjoyed this small article about my journey with game engines. IMPORTANT: If you are a coding starter, I will recommend RMMV and GMS2.
