At the recent 2022 Minecraft Live event, Mojang revealed a few details about the upcoming 1.20 update, along with its approximate release date, which will be around spring 2023.
They also stated that the first snapshot for this update will be available “a few days from now,” which will include a few of the upcoming features. Additionally, Mojang also announced the winner of the recent mob vote, which I’m relieved is the Sniffer.

Unlike previous major updates, Mojang has not yet named this update but is currently hoping to work with the community to characterize it.
During the event, Mojang did talk about a few of the many features which will be added. Here are the ones which they talked about.
Seven new default skins will be added with the 1.20 update alongside the classic Steve skin.
Mojang introduced these new default skins so that players have more options to represent themselves without having to immediately switch to a custom one.
Much like other logs, bamboo will now have a plank type of variant with a few new constriction materials.
Mojang showed off a few builds which could incorporate this new material, as well as the boat variant, which can be crafted with bamboo.
